HABITAT:  Estuaries, wetlands, ponds, lakes, trees for nesting in Sub-Saharan Africa.

CONSERVATION STATUS:   Least Concern

FUN FACT:  The hamerkop’s common name comes from the Afrikaans word for “hammer-head”
