SCIENTIFIC NAME:  Otus asio

HABITAT:  Deciduous forests, open woodlands, suburban parks, riparian areas in grasslands of southern central and eastern Canada to Florida and northeastern Mexico.

CONSERVATION STATUS:  Least Concern

FUN FACT:  Screech owls are very opportunistic feeders and will eat nearly any available animal that is small enough to catch and kill, including insects, arthropods, small mammals, birds, amphibians, bats and worms.
