SCIENTIFIC NAME: Cathartes aura
HABITAT: Adaptable to a wide range of habitats including deserts, grasslands, rain forests, and temperate forests ranging from Southern Canada, throughout the United States, Mexico, Central and South America.
CONSERVATION STATUS: Least Concern
FUN FACT: Turkey vultures have an excellent sense of smell (unlike other bird species) and can detect carrion from over a mile away.
